The committee of the Summer Course 2024 organized a Gala Dinner for participants of the Summer Course, which included students from the Master’s program in Leadership and Policy Innovation at UGM’s Graduate School, as well as students from the Education and Future Design program at Tamkang University. The event was held at Sekar Kedhaton on Thursday night (July 25) as the closing of several activities of Summer Course 2024 hosted by the Population and Policy Study Center (PSKK). In addition to the Summer Course participants, the event was also attended by the Chief of the Leadership and Policy Innovation master Program, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Maryudi, S.Hut., M.For, and a representative from Tamkang University’s faculty, Prof. Chun Chunda.

The event began with a speech from the chair of the Summer Course 2024 committee, followed by speeches from Prof. Maryudi and Prof. Chun Chunda, a screening of a documentary video, and remarks from a representative of the Tamkang students. Prof. Ahmad Maryudi, as the Chief of the MKIK Program, highly appreciated the event, stating in his speech that the Gala Dinner was organized to provide a welcome and also to close the Summer Course. He hoped it would strengthen relationships and enhance good cooperation between PSKK and MKIK UGM with Tamkang University. Furthermore, Prof. Chun Chunda, as a representative from Tamkang University’s faculty, also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and support for the Summer Course activities, from the workshop to the exhibition.

Meanwhile, Shen Yun-Xiang, also known as Brian, one of the Tamkang students’ representatives, stated, “I cherish the people who are willing to make the bet and support this department the whole way, therefore we don’t need to worry about our living conditions and can make the future worlds a better place! I love the smiles on people’s faces here! We enjoyed our stay here in Yogyakarta through the challenges and questions together. We thank you all for the memories we have shared and wish to see each other again sometime in the future,” he said.

The Gala Dinner went smoothly and left a positive impression. The event was not just a celebration but served as a moment to realize inspiring and beneficial collaboration. The hope for this event is to contribute significantly to students, faculty, and universities.
