Yogyakarta, July 3rd 2025 — The Master of Biotechnology Master Program at the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University held the 2025 Biotech Student Camp on Thursday (July 3rd) in the Graduate School Auditorium. This event served as an important platform for students to present their research findings and developments in an internationally recognized scientific environment, and honing their academic communication skills in English.

The event began at 7:00 a.m. WIB, and officially opened with remarks from the Chief of the Program, Dr. Dini Wahyu Kartika Sari, S.Pi., M.Si. She emphasized the importance of this activity as part of strengthening academic culture and developing students’ research capacity. “Through forums like this, we want to encourage students to focus on research and hone their ability to convey ideas professionally and scientifically.”

The student presentations and discussions were divided into eight sessions classified into three main clusters: Health, Industry, and Agriculture. Each session was moderated by a pre-selected student moderator, demonstrating a collaborative and participatory academic atmosphere.

Students, in each session, not only presented their research progress but also answered questions and input from other participants. This stimulated critical discussion and enriched scientific perspectives from all fields.

The Student Camp was designed to be a collective learning space, beyond simply serving as monitoring and evaluation (M&E). Voting was held to determine the Best Speakers and Best Presenters as a token of appreciation for the students’ presentation and argumentation skills at the end of the session.

Furthermore, this activity served as a model of active learning that fostered students’ confidence in facing international scientific forums. “We found this event very useful in familiarizing ourselves with future international seminars and conferences,” said one participant.

The Biotech Student Camp also reflected the UGM Graduate School’s commitment to build an academic ecosystem that supports student involvement in global research networks. For its partners, this activity demonstrated the study program’s commitment in preparing excellent human resources who are academically strong and adaptable to global challenges and cross-sector collaboration.

The Master of Biotechnology Study Program, with this activity, encourages all academicians and partners to continue strengthening synergies in supporting the development of research-based science that is relevant to the needs of society and industry.
