A spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship marked the series of activities commemorating the 43rd Anniversary of the Graduate School (SPs), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) with a plastic volleyball tournament held on Friday (September 18th).
The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of SPs UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. On the occasion, Prof. Widyanto also actively participated in the tournament as a member of Team 4 Juni and colleagues.
The participation of the university leadership in the tournament reflected the spirit of togetherness fostered throughout the 43rd Anniversary celebrations of SPs UGM. Beyond serving as a competitive sporting event, the activity provided an opportunity to strengthen interaction and camaraderie among university leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and students.
Four matches were held on Friday (September 18th), featuring competitive and engaging encounters. The first match was Team 4 Juni and colleagues facing Team 5 Rudi and colleagues. Team 4 Juni and colleagues won 2–0 victory with scores of 25–21 and 25–19.
The second match featured Team 1 Oky and colleagues against Team 2 Faisal and colleagues. Team 1 Oky and colleagues maintained consistent performance and won in straight sets, 25–19 and 25–18.
Next, Team 6 Amri and colleagues faced Team 7 MPRK. Team 6 Amri and colleagues claimed a 2–0 victory after winning the sets 25–13 and 25–20.
The final match was Team 9 Tannas competed against Team MKP. Team 9 Tannas dominated the match and secured a 2–0 victory with scores of 25–17 and 25–5.
The plastic volleyball tournament will continue on Friday, September 25th 2026, featuring several matches that will determine the teams advancing to the next stage.

- Team 6 Amri and colleagues vs. Team 8 Environmental Science
- Team 9 Tannas vs. Team 11 MMPT
- Semifinal I: Team 4 Juni and colleagues vs. the winner of Team 1 Oky and colleagues vs. Team 3 Kelvin and colleagues
The plastic volleyball tournament, the 43rd Anniversary celebrations of SPs UGM serve not only as a moment to commemorate the institution’s journey, but also as a platform to foster togetherness and strengthen the spirit of community within SPs UGM.
The active participation of university leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, students, and other participants demonstrates that the anniversary spirit is better celebrated collectively—not only with academic activities, but also with activities that strengthen relationships among members of the SPs UGM community in a healthy, sporting, and supportive atmosphere.
