Magelang, August 1st 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) organized a recreational outing at Hotel Puri Asri in Magelang, in an effort to strengthen relationships among staff and foster a more harmonious work environment. One of the highlights of the event was the selection of activities offered to participants, namely an educational adventure with the VW Safari and an adrenaline-pumping rafting experience.
Participants of the VW Safari were invited to explore the scenic Menoreh countryside in classic Volkswagen cars, following a route that included visits to the Kaliandra Honey Farm, traditional palm sugar production sites, and a photo stop at the Menoreh Science viewpoint. At each location, participants enjoyed the natural beauty and also gained valuable insights into local wisdom and community-based resource management. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, making the VW Safari a refreshing and memorable experience.
Meanwhile, the rafting participants began their journey from a designated starting point. Equipped with safety gear and accompanied by professional guides, they navigated the river for over two hours. This activity tested the participants teamwork and courage, while also serving as a great way to relieve stress from daily work routines. Safety remained a top priority, with rescue teams and medical personnel on standby throughout the activity.
These two activities were designed to offer contrasting yet complementary experiences—while the VW Safari provided tranquility and education, rafting brought excitement and strengthened collaboration. The organizing committee ensured fair group distribution and appointed experienced coordinators for each activity.
Through this event, SPs UGM not only provided a platform for recreation but also integrated educational value and cross-unit collaboration in a joyful and collegial atmosphere.
