The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted the Scientific Writing Workshop, a biannual event designed to support students in producing high-quality academic works.

This workshop featured Prof. Dr. Ahmad Maryudi, an internationally renowned academic with widely recognized scientific contributions, as the keynote speaker. He provided motivation and inspiration to the participants in crafting excellent academic works.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Maryudi delivered a presentation on the latest developments in academia, including the challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI). In his address, he emphasized the importance of using AI as a supportive tool rather than a substitute for critical thinking in research.

“AI can help accelerate data collection, analysis, and manuscript drafting. However, it is crucial to maintain academic integrity and take responsibility in its use,” said Prof. Maryudi.

He also reminded participants about the potential risks of AI usage, such as unintentional plagiarism and the dissemination of less credible information. Students were encouraged to be more cautious and selective when leveraging this technology.

Through interactive sessions filled with discussions and Q&A, participants gained deeper insights into how AI can boost productivity without compromising ethical academic principles. This approach is expected to help students produce academic works that are not only substantively excellent but also adhere to high academic standards.

This event is anticipated to improve the scientific writing quality of UGM Graduate School students, strengthen academic integrity, and prepare them to face global academic challenges in the future.
