In an effort to improve the effectiveness of external communication, the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the UGM Central Secretariat. The event was held at the Multimedia Room 1, UGM Central Building, this activity aimed to develop a higher structured and responsive communication strategy, tailored to the demands of the digital era.
Winda Pratiwi delivered a presentation on mind mapping the organizational structure and communication pathways to various stakeholders within UGM’s units. In her explanation, Winda emphasized the need for a standard and integrated external communication guideline across all work units. “This guideline will serve as a reference for building consistent, effective communication that aligns with UGM’s vision,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Ryan presented an analysis of stakeholder importance levels based on target groups. “Each audience has different information needs, requiring tailored communication strategies and media. With the right approach, communication outcomes can be optimized,” he explained.
Another speaker, Farchan Noor Rachman, highlighted the strategic functions of media in external communication. “Media communication is not just about disseminating information but also plays a role in enhancing transparency, supporting marketing strategies, addressing public issues, and managing crises. For this, competent and specially trained spokespersons are essential,” he noted.
Through this discussion, it is expected that every work unit at UGM, including SPs, can implement more effective communication strategies. This effort is not only aimed at strengthening the institution’s image but also at building public trust, enhancing reputation, and fostering broader synergy at both local and global levels.
