A total of 22 students of the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Master Program (PSPSR) at the Graduate School of UGM, from the 2024 Odd semester and 2023 Even semester batch year, along with the chief of the PSPSR program, attended the Festival of Five Mountains. The event was organized by the Five Mountains Community in Keron Village, Magelang, Central Java on September 29th 2024.

This activity is part of the assignments for the Course on Arts Institution and Event Management in the PSPSR program, where students were tasked with observation and analysis during the event.

The Festival of Five Mountains is held regularly at five different locations in rotation: Merapi, Merbabu, Andong, Sumbing, and Menoreh. This year, it carries the theme “Wolak Waliking Jaman Kelakone.”

This event, referred to by the local community as the festival of the villagers from the five mountains surrounding Magelang, is conducted using a citizen-based event management system. In 2024, the festival featured 120 folk art groups from Magelang, Purworejo, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Malang, and Bali.

This activity also serves as an implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 3, regarding Healthy and Prosperous Lives; Number 4, about Quality Education; Number 5, concerning Gender Equality; and Number 17, about Partnerships for Achieving Goals.
