Yogyakarta (02/10), Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (SPs UGM) again held a curriculum workshop series in October 2024 in the Auditorium Room of the Postgraduate School Unit 1. This activity was attended by all SPs leaders including the Dean and Deputy Dean. Apart from that, lecturers and study program managers were also present. This workshop aims to discuss crucial aspects of academic activities, especially those related to curriculum development and updating.
This workshop is part of a broader initiative to improve the quality of graduates and the relevance of higher education, basic education, and the curriculum demanded at the time. The ongoing discussions highlighted the need for a curriculum that not only provides knowledge, but also encourages critical thinking and problem solving skills among students.
“The curriculum is based on vision and mission, the learning process is supervised by RPKPS, team teaching, assessment. With the growing needs of society and technological developments, UGM and SPs developed MOOC and disseminated it using several methods and improvements,” said Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., Dean of SPs in the introduction to open the workshop.
SPs leaders and lecturers are involved in discussions to create innovative approaches in curriculum design that will promote education for sustainability. The emphasis is preparing a curriculum that covers academic knowledge and encourages students to engage with real world issues and contribute to sustainable development, especially through research activities and community service in the form of practical steps.
This curriculum workshop is an important step towards updating the quality of education at Gadjah Mada University by focusing on responsive strategies and building partnerships, it aims to contribute to achieving the SDGs, especially in the field of education. A commitment to continuous improvement in curriculum design reflects a dedication to providing a comprehensive and sustainable educational experience for students.
