Publishing scientific works in accredited journals is an essential requirement for students to articulate their thoughts, knowledge, and hone their academic skills in their respective fields. Supporting this need, the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a scientific writing workshop aimed at achieving publications in accredited journals, which also serves as one of the graduation requirements for students.

This workshop took place on August 21-22, 2024, with a format divided into general classes and specialized classes based on fields of study, namely soshum (social humanities) and saintek (science and technology). On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S.Si., M.Si., served as a speaker for the soshum 2 class held in the Auditorium Room of SPs UGM.

During the session, Prof. Sri Rum Giyarsih emphasized the importance of strong academic politics strategies to promote journal publications at the international level. She also presented various journal publishers, both national and international, provided tips on what to do if a paper submission is rejected, and explained the structure of a journal from the abstract to the conclusion.

Prof. Sri Rum Giyarsih also stated that workshop participants could communicate and consult with her not only during the workshop sessions but also at other times. “I have high hopes that participants will be able to apply this writing knowledge in a short time,” she said, demonstrating her commitment to helping students achieve higher academic productivity.

With this workshop, SPs UGM hopes to improve the quality of students’ scientific works, enabling them to compete at the international level while also fulfilling the academic requirements set.
