Yogyakarta (14/6) Shariah management and the concept of Global Gotong Royong Tetra Preneur (G2RT) have been implemented in the community around Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta, by providing job opportunities and strategic business locations within the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park for the local community and SMEs. SMEs that have been recruited are then empowered and provided with special training such as fire prevention training and first aid training, therefore Prambanan Temple can become an oasis in empowering local businesses and products.
This was conveyed by Fauzan Khoirul, Operational Manager of Prambanan Temple Tourism Park, during a Field Lecture event attended by 14 students of the Religion and Cross-Cultural Studies (ALB) program with an interest in Islamic Economics (Ekis) at the Graduate School (SPs) of UGM, led by Rika Fatimah P.L., S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., the lecturer of Shariah Management with an Ekis interest, and also the founder of G2RT, on Friday, May 31st, 2024.
From the perspective of visitors, Briony and Dale, two foreign tourists who visited Prambanan Temple, expressed that Prambanan Temple is an easily accessible tourist destination with affordable ticket prices, making it iconic and popular among the public. Furthermore, the practice of tolerance at Prambanan Temple, such as providing a prayer room for Muslim visitors, is also a Shariah management practice implemented at Prambanan Temple.
Before starting the observation process, Rika Fatimah, Ph.D., emphasized that this observation should be intended as an academic devotion therefore it can benefit the wider community. Students were also encouraged to maintain ethics and reputation of the institution during the interview and observation process.
This visit is part of the final assignment of the Shariah Management course organized by the Master Program in Religion and Cross-Cultural Studies with an interest in Islamic Economics. The expectation of this visit will further broaden the students’ insights into the implementation of Shariah management and the G2RT concept in the community.
