In order to enhance the effectiveness of the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs in Tourism Studies, the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Agency of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia at the Leadership Meeting Room of the UGM Graduate School on Tuesday (7/5). This MoU aims to establish cooperation in conducting Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs in Tourism Studies for Civil Servants in the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Agency of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

The MoU was directly signed by Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Dean of the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada. This collaboration’s mutual benefits will be achieved between the two parties. The Dean of the Graduate School hopes that this cooperation will continue to support the University’s Tri Dharma (three pillars of higher education).

Jaka Sanjaya, Vice Chairman of the Education and Training Team, also expressed that with the establishment of this cooperation, it will open opportunities for collaboration with other study programs and hopes that students can learn directly, making it easier to apply in their work environment.

This opportunity represents a strategic step towards improving the quality of education (SDGs 4), reducing inequalities (SDGs 10), and partnership to achieve goals (SDGs 17). It is expected to be a starting point for productive cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Agency of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia and the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
