Developing agricultural sector has been one of prioritized programs in Kotawaringin Barat for years. The fact, however, shows that it has not significantly increased farmer’s welfare in the region. Farmer remains living in poverty and, what is worse, agricultural sector is getting unpopular among young generations.
The problem of poverty among farmer community in Indonesia has been an enduring phenomenon. The number of poor farmer has been increasing from time to time. Such a problem in Kotawaringin Barat results from several factors, both structurally and culturally. Following this fact, the local government of Kotawaringin Barat has established an alternative program, which is aimed to improve the agricultural sector. Abstract :  
This research assumes that Indonesia has not fully recovered from economic crisis, and this assumption then is put in the context of the establishment of “Direct Cash Assistance” program. This is one of the government programs to overcome the poverty in Indonesia, particularly when the world oil price went up dramatically in 2005. The incapability of people’s buying power due to the dramatic increase of oil price makes the government of the Republic of Indonesia concerned about the increase number of poor families and the declice of their prosperuty level. Hence, “Direct Cash Assistance” (BLT) is a program that is expected to give immediate implication toward the eradication of poverty. In fact, the distribution of BLT creates various problems and causes disputes among societies. The main problem lies on the accuracy of who would receive BLT money and the effectiveness of BLT as the best program to overcome the poverty problems.

Title of Dissertation : Management of Cropping Pattern on Dryland Agroecology in East Java Province Based on Drought Level

Abstract :  

This study aims to analyze spatial and temporal variation of rainfall in 2 (two) period i.e. 1972-1989 and 1990-2007, to manage zoning level of dryness in agroecology zone on dryland, and to arrange management of planting pattern in dryland based on change of characteristic rainfall and the level of drought and the behavior of farmers in managing the drought. Research was done in the area of East Java that is focused on agroecology zone (AEZ) of dry land crops. Research was conducted by secondary data analyzis and field survey. The stages of the research are: 1) Analyze of the characteristics of the type climate Oldeman and rainfall in 2 (two) period i.e. 1971-1989 and 1990-2007, 2) preparation of the index drought of Agroecology zone on dry land; 3) determining planting pattern in the dryland based on the level of its dryness. Abstract :  

The urban economic development needs transportation facilities. People move form one location to the other rapidly. The amount of vehicle increases, it also increases lead content in the air. The human health cost increases as lead content in the air increases.


If the increase is beyond the threshold level, total health compensation cost is Rp 119.059.484.297,-. Dose-response function is method to analyze the health compensation cost. Opportunity cost calculation shows that total health cost is Rp 5.308.718,-. If it is compared with avarage income of respondent, the lost is Rp 4.532.084,-.
